Today everyone was at a bio excursion so Tay-lo and I kept working on our plan - figuring out workshops and the bit of Caucasian chalk circle to put in our website.
yesterday, Josie and I brainstormed some workshop ideas, looking at the conventions of #totallyepic theatre, and how we could convey these in class activities/ workshops.
Some conventions to look at:
- narration
- gestus
- detachment from character
- movement vs emotion
- alienation
Workshop ideas:
Perform a typically emotional scene (breakup, cancer diagnosis, wedding, funeral etc) using narration/ 3rd person to alienate and emotionally detach the characters/ feelings from the audience
Come up with a gestus (combining a gesture and a social meaning/ idea in a single movement) for each stimulus word that we say, eg. rich and poor, love
Communicate a nursery rhyme to your partner without using words in the title - incorporates gestus
Actor as the demonstrator: given a stimulus, one person narrates the scene ('he said', 'she said' etc)
